Intellectual property

The website, the application and their content (texts, graphics, logo, interface, database, code) are the exclusive property of Pionics, unless otherwise stated. Any reproduction, modification or exploitation without prior written authorisation is prohibited and may constitute infringement punishable under articles L. 335-2 et seq. of the French Intellectual Property Code.

The Kaissa trademark and logo are the property of Pionics.

Chess games imported or created by users remain the property of their authors; Pionics uses them only to provide the Service, under the conditions set out in the Terms of Use.

Third-party software and services

Analysis engine. When local analysis is enabled, Kaissa runs the Stockfish.js 19 engine (© Chess.com, LLC) in your browser, derived from Stockfish (© the Stockfish developers). This free software is distributed without any warranty under the GNU General Public License version 3.

Sparring. The engine behind the Sparring feature is Pionics' own development and runs in your browser. It uses third-party neural networks, downloaded once and running locally; no data is sent to their authors:

Game import. Kaissa lets you import games from Lichess (lichess.org) and, where the option is offered, Chess.com (chess.com), via their public interfaces. Import is one-way: no Kaissa data is sent to these platforms. Lichess and Chess.com are independent services, subject to their own terms of use; Pionics is not affiliated with these companies.

Payment. Payments are processed by Mollie B.V., Keizersgracht 126, 1015 CW Amsterdam, the Netherlands, a payment institution authorised by the Dutch Central Bank (DNB). Pionics stores neither card numbers nor IBANs.

Emails. Transactional emails and the newsletter are sent via Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, 106 boulevard Haussmann, 75008 Paris).

Artificial intelligence. Recognition of photographed scoresheets uses the API of Anthropic, PBC (United States); voice dictation uses the API of Mistral AI (Paris). These providers do not train their models on the content sent to them. Details are set out in the Privacy Policy.

Security. The sign-in page uses Google reCAPTCHA (Google LLC, United States) to protect accounts against automated attacks.

Personal data

Pionics is the controller of the personal data collected on the website and the application, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and the French Data Protection Act.

You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability in respect of your data, as well as the right to give instructions regarding what happens to your data after your death. To exercise these rights, write to rgpd@kaissa.net or by post to the publisher's address. You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL (www.cnil.fr).

Cookies

The website does not use any advertising, social network or audience measurement cookies. Only cookies strictly necessary for the operation of the service are set (session, authentication, language preferences); they are exempt from consent in accordance with article 82 of the French Data Protection Act. The sign-in page uses Google reCAPTCHA to protect accounts against automated attacks; this service may set Google cookies on that page only.

The Mollie payment page may set its own technical cookies, which are necessary to secure the transaction.

Consumer mediation

In accordance with the provisions of the French Consumer Code concerning “the consumer dispute mediation process”, after contacting us and in the absence of a satisfactory response, you may use a consumer mediation procedure free of charge with:

Liability

Pionics endeavours to ensure the accuracy of the information published and the availability of the service, but cannot guarantee that they will be free from errors or interruptions. The analyses produced by Kaissa are provided for information purposes only.

Links to third-party websites are provided for information; Pionics has no control over their content and accepts no liability in respect of them.

The liability terms relating to the use of the service and to the paid plans are set out in the Terms of Use and the Terms and Conditions of Sale.

Governing law

This legal notice is governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, the parties shall seek an amicable solution before taking any legal action. Failing that, the French courts shall have jurisdiction, subject to the statutory rules on jurisdiction applicable to consumers.
